Omega ref. 2077-3 cal 33.3 made in 1938

Omega has produced the cal 33.3 for almost 20 years.

The 33.3 movement is a large and therefore more accurate and reliable caliber produced by Lemania for both Omega and Tissot after the two companies merged in 1932.

Another reason for rarity is the production of this movement: in about 20 years of the cal. 33.3, it is believed that only 13,700 units were produced. Its lineage goes directly back to its pocket watch predecessors of the past, and at 37.5 mm, these watches eclipsed other chronographs of their contemporaries, which generally measured 34-35 mm. Even today, thanks to their complicated dials along with their size, cal. 33.3 watches have a notable presence on the wrist.

Omega archives list a total of nine references produced with this caliber. Although there are no complete catalogs of all the cal. 33.3 dial variants produced, the chronographs very often featured colored scales that could be used for speed, distance and frequency. In short, these watches are a rare breed: they combine rarity, impeccable pedigree, and an appealing appearance in a package that is incredibly attractive from a collector’s point of view.
