Basically it is a modern homage to the true historical dive pieces made by Panerai decades ago ( 6152 1 Angelus). It has a high-end movement. This movement has been christened the P.3001. It is a rather large movement that pays homage to the huge pocket watch movements mounted on historic Panerai pieces. Hand-wound mechanical made by Panerai, 16½ lines, 6.3 mm thick, 21 jewels, Glucydur® balance, 21,600 vibrations per hour. Incabloc® shockproof device. 3-day power reserve, two barrels. 213 components. Hours , Minutes , Power reserve , Small seconds. Transparent sapphire crystal case back.

My favorite detail of all is the power reserve indicator…. ON THE BACK! the 422 puts it on the BACK so as not to ruin the dial leaving it clean and respectful of tradition. The P.3001 has a seconds reset function in which you can immediately reset the seconds hand to zero. This allows time to be synchronized with respect to a reference. And it has another interesting feature:-you can move the hour hand independently of the minute hand. This is very useful when traveling through different time zones since you can quickly advance or reverse the hour without adjusting the minute. The dial(sandwich) simply exudes Panerai DNA. Large. Simple. Clean and readable in all conditions.
