Rolex ref. 16550 is to be considered a transitional model produced for a very few years from late 1984 to about 1989.
The model for sale is even more distinctive because it mounts the rare Rail dial : the inscription at 6 o’clock ‘Superlative Chronometer Offiacially Certifid’ appears divided by a kind of track, an imaginary line that cuts the inscription in half.
This gives the watch greater interest and collector’s value.
