UNIVERSAL GENEVE 22430

For some the 22430 has a bad reputation, for the simple reason that Hermann Göring wore it. The Nazi leader owned an identical one with a silver dial for years before exchanging it for food and comfort in prison after the fall of the Nazi regime.

In reality it was an aviator’s watch used by both factions.

The Universal Compax has been produced in numerous versions over the years in both gold and steel. The most sought-after are the models with large cases, the so-called oversize models, such as this example, reference 22430. Featuring a case with an astonishing diameter of 46 mm, this UG is definitely one of the boldest and largest Compax models produced by Universal. Nicknamed Universalone, produced around the 1940s.

The gilt dial is imposing and magnetic; you can’t take your eyes off it. Size matters here amplifying only beauty.
